Women's Livelihoods and Employment
The 5th PBC 2024 was organized around the theme, Women in the Indian Economy: wins, woes and ways forward, with a specific focus on the budgetary and policy initiatives towards equitable participation of women in employment and livelihood generation. This covers issues of women in agriculture, MSMEs, informal work, care economy, gig economy, stigmatised/marginalized occupations like sex work/manual scavenging and so forth. Speakers analyzed various policies needed for decent employment for women, including occupational health, social protection, care support and fair wages as well as enabling services including for prevention of sexual harassment.
