The woman’s body becomes a site of everyday violence that has been
unfailingly normalised through the social institutions of marriage and
family. The spaces of the households become the accepted ‘protected’
sites that pose a threat to the woman’s bodily and mental integrity. The
Feminist Policy Collective (FPC), in collaboration with SAHAJ (Society for
Health Alternatives), Institute for What Works to Advance Gender Equality
(IWWAGE) and Institute of Social Studies Trust (ISST) organised a webinar
on the 16th of November, 2023 to hold a discussion on the subversion of
women’s fundamental rights within these spaces through economic violence,
factoring in the discourse on unpaid care work in domestic spaces and
women’s rights to their own bodies.
